ORDER NOWThe Embden is the most popular goose for eating. They are a nice strong bird with blue eyes and orange beaks and feet. They have all white plumage and you will be able to tell the males by the color of their feathers when they are very young. The grey down on the males is much lighter that females when they are very young. Their adult weight is 15-20 lbs. APPROX. 35-45 EGGS/YEAR
ORDER NOWA curious goose, the African was introduced to the U.S. in the mid 1800's. It has a black knob on the tops of its head and a dark stripe down the back of its neck. It is a smaller bird than the Embden and Toulouse. Its adult weight is 12.5-15.5 pounds. Goose laying season is typically March through May but may fluctuate according to the Spring weather. ORDER NOWBrown Chinese Geese originate in China descending from the wild Asiatic Swan goose. Chinese Geese are the most prolific egg laying geese and it is not unusual to have them lay in the fall or winter. Most Chinese geese lay from 50-60 eggs but may produce as many as 100 yearly. Males mature at 10 lbs and Females at 8 lbs.
ORDER NOWThe American Buff is an apricot-fawn color. This very calm natured goose sports buff colored feathers on it back, and its sides are edged with creamy white. The Buff's abdomen is nearly white and its legs may fade to pick during laying, or when green grass is not available. Its adult weight is 14-16 lbs. APPROX. 25-35 EGGS/YEAR
ORDER NOWThe Roman Tufted is not a large goose and is actually classified as a light breed for show purposes. Most do not have a tuft or crest on their head. They are especially popular in North America. The crest is not similar to the crested ducks, the crest in geese is due to a group of feathers standing more upright, causing the appearance of a small helmet on their head. They are a smaller, plump bird with a friendly personality.
DetailsDeveloped in the 1850's the Toulouse was bred for exhibition purposes. This very calm breed is slower growing, not reaching full maturity until at least three years old. Their plumage comes in shades of grey. The adult weight is 18-25 lbs. APPROX. 15-25 EGGS/YEAR
