The Spitzhauben have a unique black and white speckled plumage with a V-shaped comb and are known to have originated in Switzerland. These birds are excellent climbers and love to roost in trees. They do not do well in smaller coops and are very much free-range birds. The hens are very good medium to large white egg layers. Interestingly, the word Spitzhauben is German for pointed hoods, which is quite fitting for them for their pointy crests of feathers on their heads.
