The Old English Bantam originated in England by Romans in the First Century. Back then, the Old English were raised for cock fighting, a cheap sport that anyone could get involved in. The sport was banned in 1849 and today the birds are raised for exhibition. The upright appearance and confidence in this breed set it apart and make it noticeable.
